Electrical Engineer Primary Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for working in a clean automated environment during an exciting growth phase for the company.

As a key member of the Maintenance team, you will ensure the smooth operation of the factory in a safe and effective manner in addition to following the health and safety advice and guidance as instructed.

Working in a specialist field, you will fulfil all aspects of the role following working procedures and safe systems of work where appropriate, to carry out repairs, breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance, reporting any equipment fault or malfunction that cannot be fixed.

To work with; conveyor systems, ASRS systems, sort systems, scanning and labelling systems

Key Accountabilities

Maintain all materials handling equipment and ensure an efficient operation of the Building Management SystemEnsure "maintenance only" areas within the warehouse and other plant and equipment remain clean and to ensure the maintenance stores and workshop areas are kept clean and tidyTo take delivery of maintenance spares and equipment as required, locating in stores or maintenance workshopEnsure a flexible and common-sense approach to Health and Safety - notifying Team Managers and/or other staff members of any type of hazard which can be dealt with by the post holder; ensure the safety of others working within the areas of the warehouseAssist in the completion and review of risk assessments for the departmentUndertake regular health & safety inspections with the Site Management TeamPromote and participate in Fun, Fair and rewarding activities within your department or on siteParticipate in and encourage idea generation to benefit departments through STPs in line with Target Zero

Competencies

Qualifications/Experience -

Experience of working within a similar role (FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Waste to recycling, Baggage Handling, Automated warehousing)

A proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Experience of working within a high-pressured environment

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in engineering (electrical or mechanical)

Specific Skills/Knowledge Essential Desirable

Ability to prioritise and manage own workload

Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and level of accuracy

Flexible approach to working hours

A proven ability to take ownership of tasks and situations

Key Responsibilities

*Lead controls engineering activities on large automation projects
*Develop functional specifications and define system operation requirements

Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical is beneficial.

Bid Estimator/ Engineer

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Manager or Head of Operations, this role involves leading the technical preparation, costing, and development of commercially competitive proposals and quotations for Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation projects of diverse scale and complexity, ensuring compliance with current legislation and internal processes.

You will spearhead the pre-contract engineering activities, collaborating closely with Sales, Design, Procurement, and Project Delivery teams to define accurate project scopes, establish reliable cost models, and ensure a seamless handover from bidding stage to project execution.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have a solid engineering foundation in mechanical, electrical, or automation systems. This role is suitable for experienced Project Engineers, Design Engineers, or Senior Site Engineers aiming to shift into a pre-construction, bid-focused position.

You should have a commercial mindset, be highly methodical, and be adept at interpreting technical documents, drawings, and client specifications, converting them into clear, costed technical proposals.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare precise, competitive, and compliant bids and quotations for Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation projects.Analyze client specifications, drawings, and tender documents to define project requirements.Establish scope, assumptions, exclusions, and risk contingencies.Collaborate with Design, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Installation teams during bid preparation.Provide technical input to support Sales in client meetings and presentations.Conduct site visits and technical clarifications as necessary.Compile comprehensive handover documentation for Project Delivery teams upon contract award.Adhere to company QMS, Health & Safety policies, and organizational values.

Experience & Requirements

Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial mechanical, electrical, or automation engineering.Experience in Food & Beverage, Logistics, or Distribution sectors is advantageous.Previous exposure to estimating, scope definition, or pre-contract engineering is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge combined with commercial awareness.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented.Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
