Position: Control Panel Supervisor

Proactive are currently recruiting for an experienced Control Panel Supervisor to join an established engineering and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day panel build activities, supporting technicians, maintaining quality standards and ensuring work is completed safely and within agreed timescales.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and support a team working on the build and wiring of electrical control panelsOrganise daily workloads and ensure work is progressing in line with production requirementsRead and work from electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentationProvide technical support to the team during assembly, wiring and testing activitiesCarry out checks on completed work to ensure panels meet the required quality and workmanship standardsAssist with testing and fault-finding where requiredMaintain relevant production and testing recordsLiaise with engineering and production colleagues to resolve technical or scheduling issuesIdentify opportunities to improve workshop processes, efficiency and qualitySupport the training and development of less experienced members of the team

Skills:

Previous experience in electrical panel building, control systems, electrical assembly or a similar environmentExperience supervising, leading or mentoring technicians would be advantageousGood understanding of electrical systems and componentsComfortable interpreting electrical drawings and schematicsPractical experience with panel wiring, assembly and testingGood fault-finding and problem-solving abilityFamiliarity with PLC/control equipment would be beneficialConfident using standard hand and power toolsStrong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality workGood communication and organisational skillsAble to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlinesProactive attitude with an interest in improving processes and supporting the wider team

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced BMS Control Panel Supervisor / Senior Panel Wirer to join their engineering team based in Tunbridge Wells.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical assembly professional with strong panel wiring skills and leadership experience to play a key role in the production, testing, and quality control of BMS control panels.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the assembly, wiring, testing, and inspection of control panels while supporting and supervising a team of technicians within a busy workshop environment.

The Role:

Supervise and support a team of technicians in the assembly and wiring of control panels

Build and wire BMS control panels from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Install and wire electrical components including relays, contactors, circuit breakers, and PLCs

Carry out quality inspections and checks on completed panels

Support testing, fault finding, and validation of control panels

Maintain accurate records of wiring layouts, modifications, and test results

Allocate workloads and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are achieved

Promote continuous improvement and maintain high workshop standards

Ensure all activities comply with health and safety procedures

What We're Looking For:

Proven experience in electrical assembly, control panel wiring, or similar technical roles

Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Experience working with control panels, automation, or BMS systems

Good knowledge of electrical components and wiring practices

Experience using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is highly desirable

Desirable Experience:

BMS, automation, or PLC panel wiring experience

Electrical engineering qualifications or technical certifications

Experience leading a workshop team or mentoring technicians
