Role Overview

The Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician will play an important role in the assembly, integration, testing and continuous improvement of complex electro-mechanical equipment.

The role will involve mechanical assembly and fitting, electrical cabling, component integration, basic testing and fault finding, working from engineering drawings, schematics and documented work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and integrate complex electro-mechanical equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, diagrams and standard work instructions.Undertake mechanical fitting, assembly, repair and rework activities as required.Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and documentation.Carry out basic testing, fault finding and rectification of electrical and mechanical issues.Take responsibility for the quality of completed work, including accurate documentation, self-checking and peer/buddy checks.Work efficiently to agreed production and throughput targets while maintaining high standards of quality.Support other areas of the manufacturing operation as required.Assist with stock, materials and stores activities when required.Contribute to Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the work area.Support prototype builds, product development and project-related manufacturing activities.Work collaboratively with Manufacturing/Engineering teams on new and existing products.Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, quality and the working environment.Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.Follow all company health, safety and quality procedures and policies.Demonstrate the organisation's values through a commitment to integrity, innovation, accountability and teamwork.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience assembling complex electro-mechanical products or equipment.Good mechanical and practical workshop skills.Ability to understand and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications and work instructions.Basic electrical and mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.Good understanding of electrical and mechanical safety practices.Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.Able to follow established procedures and work to consistently high quality standards.Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.Comfortable using initiative and adapting to changing priorities.GCSE-level Maths and English, or equivalent.A strong general technical and electro-mechanical aptitude.Experience of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement would be advantageous.Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment would be beneficial.

Working Hours

Initially, the working hours will be:

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:00Friday: 08:00-15:30

Salary

£30,000-£31,000 per annum-

We are seeking an experienced Electro Mechanical Assembly & Wiring Technician to join our clients team. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in cable looming, internal wiring, soldering connectors, and electro-mechanical assembly.

This role would suit a practical, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship and is comfortable working from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacture and assemble cable looms and wiring harnesses to engineering specifications.Carry out internal wiring of electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies.Strip, crimp, terminate, solder, and dress wires and cables.Solder electrical connectors, terminals, pins, and other components to a high standard.Assemble and wire control panels, electrical enclosures, equipment, and sub-assemblies.Carry out general electro-mechanical assembly, including the fitting of mechanical and electrical components.Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions.Identify and rectify wiring, assembly, and workmanship issues.Carry out continuity, insulation, and basic electrical tests where required.Ensure wiring is correctly routed, secured, labelled, and dressed.Use a range of hand tools, soldering equipment, crimping tools, and electrical test equipment.Maintain accurate build records and complete relevant production documentation.Work to company quality standards, engineering procedures, and health & safety requirements.Support the wider production team with general assembly and manufacturing activities when required.

Required Skills

Proven experience in cable looming and wiring harness manufacture.Experience with internal equipment wiring and electrical assembly.Competent in soldering connectors and electrical components.Experience with crimping, cable termination, ferrules, terminals, and connector assembly.Ability to read and work from electrical drawings and wiring schematics.Good understanding of electrical wiring practices and component identification.Experience using hand tools and workshop/production equipment.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.Good hand skills and the ability to work accurately on small components and assemblies.Ability to work independently as well as part of a production team.

The Role

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Electronic Mechanical Assembly Technician in Biggleswade. The Technician will be responsible for assembling mechanical and electronic components, and electrical wiring.
