Engineering Support Operative

Location: Near Nottingham
Salary: £36,208 per annum (including shift allowance)
Contract: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Support Operative to join a permanent team in the Nottingham area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in maintenance, engineering support, automated equipment or a similar operational environment, looking to develop their career within a technology-led engineering environment.

People with experience within Control Room Operatives or Technical Operatives or have worked within warehousing environment, who want a career within Engineering could also be a good match to the role.

The Role

As an Engineering Support Operative, you will help maintain system flow by responding quickly to equipment issues, carrying out basic maintenance and repairs, and escalating more complex faults to the engineering team.

You will be responsible for:

Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance checks on automated equipment.Acting as the first point of contact when faults or errors occur.Identifying system faults, blockages and performance issues.Carrying out basic reactive and preventative repairs.Supporting continuous product flow and minimising downtime.Rectifying product and process-related issues.Supporting equipment hygiene and housekeeping requirements.Identifying and communicating continuous improvement opportunities.Following all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.Reporting accidents, incidents and near misses.Working closely with the wider engineering team to ensure faults are communicated and resolved efficiently.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience in an engineering, maintenance, automated or similar environment.Ideally 2 years' experience in a similar industry/environment.Experience with basic equipment maintenance.An understanding of automated equipment and maintaining system/product flow.A good understanding of workplace Health & Safety.Competence working at height.Good communication and teamwork skills.Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.Flexibility and willingness to learn.Competence using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.Good spoken and written English.

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a permanent team in the Nottingham area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or time-served engineer with experience in automation, electromechanical maintenance, fault finding or mechatronics to join an established engineering environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining system availability, improving reliability and ensuring automated equipment operates safely and efficiently.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of automated and electromechanical equipment. You will monitor system performance, diagnose faults, carry out repairs and identify opportunities to improve system reliability.

You will also work closely with customers and the wider engineering team, providing updates on equipment downtime, maintenance activities and incidents.

Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out preventative and reactive maintenance on automated and electromechanical equipment.Diagnose faults and safely rectify issues to minimise system downtime.Monitor automated systems using SynQ and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).Carry out root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to recurring faults.Use condition monitoring and system data to identify potential failures and support predictive maintenance.Communicate with customers regarding equipment downtime, preventative maintenance and incidents.Record all maintenance activity and findings accurately using CRM/Salesforce and CMMS systems.Complete risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.Carry out dynamic risk assessments and report any required amendments.Record and report near misses and accidents.Support continuous improvement projects and initiatives.Complete relevant training and share knowledge with apprentices and trainees.Contribute to quality, environmental and Health & Safety objectives.About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

A minimum Level 3 Apprenticeship or relevant Level 3 engineering qualification/accreditation.5-10 years' relevant engineering experience or equivalent time served through an engineering apprenticeship.Experience working with automated equipment in a maintenance environment.Strong fault-finding and rectification skills.Experience with electromechanical/mechatronic systems.Understanding of PLC, controls and automation software.Experience using CMMS systems.Understanding of WMS / warehouse control systems.Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance.Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety.Competence working at height.Ability to interpret system data and use condition monitoring techniques.Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Strong communication and customer-facing skills.Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.Flexibility and willingness to learn and develop.Fluent English language skills.Salary & Benefits£53,120 total annual salary including shift allowance25 days' annual leave8 bank holidaysPrivate HealthcarePermanent Health InsuranceCompany Sick PayPensionDeath in ServiceHow to Apply

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a permanent team in the Nottingham area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or technician with experience in machinery, maintenance, electrical systems or automation who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and working in a customer-focused engineering environment.

You will be responsible for responding to reactive faults, carrying out preventative maintenance and supporting the engineering team to keep automated systems running efficiently and reliably.

The Role

As an Engineering Technician, you will respond promptly to equipment faults, diagnose and rectify issues where possible, and escalate unresolved problems to the appropriate engineering or technical support team.

You will also support engineers and team leaders, identify recurring faults and contribute to improvements in equipment reliability and performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesRespond promptly to reactive faults and carry out preventative maintenance checks.Diagnose, investigate and rectify equipment faults where possible.Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the appropriate engineering team or external support function.Maintain automated warehouse and warehouse management systems to a high technical standard.Monitor equipment performance and minimise response times and operational disruption.Carry out equipment servicing in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and quality standards.Undertake repairs in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practice.Support technical cleaning of automated areas.Identify repeated faults and communicate findings and potential solutions to the engineering management team.Support continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.Work closely with colleagues, customers and other technical teams to resolve problems.Provide frontline customer support and communicate clearly regarding faults, issues and resolutions.Complete allocated duties in accordance with relevant site and engineering procedures.Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and company quality processes.About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Relevant experience in machinery, maintenance, electrical engineering or an automation environment.A minimum Level 2 Engineering qualification and/or significant relevant experience within an automation environment.Experience with fault finding and problem solving.An understanding of preventative maintenance / PPM schedules.Willingness and ability to work at height.Ability to work at height and climb vertical access ladders following appropriate training.A practical and methodical approach to diagnosing technical issues.Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.Strong communication and customer service skills.The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team.A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.Good PC literacy.Desirable ExperiencePrevious experience in an industrial, automated or materials handling environment.Electrical or mechanical qualifications.Electrical/mechanical fault finding and repair experience.Previous customer service experience.Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical and electronic technical manuals and drawings.Basic understanding of PLC equipment.Good level of physical fitness for the requirements of the role.Salary & Benefits£41,500 total annual salary including shift allowancePermanent position25 days' annual leaveBank holidaysPrivate HealthcarePermanent Health InsuranceCompany Sick PayPension with employer contributionDeath in Service benefitWhat We're Looking For
