Position: Mechanical Assembler

Location: Bury St Edmunds

Proactive are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Assembler to join an established ACV assembly line.

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of assembly activities across the ACV production line, making this an ideal role for someone with a broad skill set across mechanical, electrical and electronics assembly.

As a Mechanical Assembler, you'll be a key part of the production team, carrying out practical assembly work across mechanical, electrical and electronic components and supporting the wider manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities:

Assembly of mechanical components and equipment to precise specificationsElectrical and electronic assembly workSoldering, wiring, crimping and general assembly activities where requiredReading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly instructionsUsing a range of hand tools, power tools and electromechanical toolingCarrying out assembly and testing activities to a high standardMaintaining quality control and ensuring work meets required standardsWorking across different areas of the ACV production line as required

Skills:

Proven experience in mechanical assembly is essentialPractical experience in electrical and/or electronics assemblyStrong hands-on assembly skills across a range of disciplinesAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly documentationExperience using hand tools, power tools and electromechanical equipmentGood attention to detail and a commitment to qualityA flexible and adaptable approach to varied assembly workSelf-motivation, good initiative and solid communication skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentMust be comfortable standing for long periods throughout the working day

Job Purpose

To accurately pick, assemble, and prepare customer orders for dispatch within a multi-temperature warehouse environment. This role requires working efficiently in cold-storage and deep-freeze sections to ensure on-time delivery across our distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

Order Picking: Pick customer orders accurately using voice-activated picking systems or handheld scanners.Pallet & Cage Assembly: Securely stack and load goods onto cages, pallets, or crates to ensure safe transport.Dispatch & Loading: Move completed orders to designated dispatch areas and assist with loading delivery vehicles.Stock Rotation: Follow strict stock management procedures (First In, First Out) to maintain product quality.Safety & Housekeeping: Operate all warehouse machinery safely and keep the cold-store workspace clean and hazard-free.

Key Requirements
