Press Brake Operator required to work for manufacturing company based in Biggleswade, immediate starts available for the right candidates.

Press Brake Operator Job Description:

The Press Brake Operator plays a crucial role in our manufacturing and production process by operating and maintaining both press brake machines. They are responsible for bending and shaping metal plates and sheets according to specifications and blueprints. Press Brake Operators ensure that the finished products meet quality standards and adhere to customer requirements.

Press Brake Operator Responsibilities:

Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and shape metal plates and sheets.Must be able to do radius bending.Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to determine the required specifications for each job.Select the appropriate tooling, dies, and machinery settings for each bending operation.Position metal plates and sheets onto the press brake machine and accurately align them according to the specified measurements.Adjust machine settings such as speed, pressure, and depth to ensure precise bending and shaping of the metal.Monitor the operation of the press brake machine, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.Inspect finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications, dimensions, and quality standards.Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of press brake machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues or notify the maintenance department for repairs.Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Press Brake Operator Required Skills:

Proficiency in operating press brake machines and knowledge of various bending techniques.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.Strong mathematical skills to accurately measure and calculate dimensions for bending operations.Attention to detail and the ability to ensure precision and accuracy in all bending and shaping tasks.Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle metal plates and sheets effectively.Knowledge of different types of metals, their characteristics, and how they respond to bending operations.Good problem-solving skills to identify and resolve minor machine issues.Time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet production deadlines.Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and convey important information.Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

Working hours: Monday - Friday (7am - 4pm)Rate: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (Dependent on Experience)Start date: ASAP

Salary & Benefits

Key Responsibilities

Set and operate CNC perforating and punch presses.Produce high-quality components while meeting production targets.Carry out quality checks in line with ISO procedures.Support the Shift Team Leader when required.Maintain high housekeeping and health & safety standards.Drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.Assist in training and developing team members.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in Punch Press Setting (highly preferred).Candidates with CNC Setter experience will also be considered if they have the right mechanical background.Experience working in a manufacturing environment.Mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings.Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometres and verniers.Good PC skills.Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable Experience

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.Forklift licence or experience.Knowledge of SMED, 5S, or continuous improvement practices.Power Press Regulations Certificate or First Aid qualification.
