Vendor Manager (Japanese Speaking) - Robotics

About the role
Our client is a global technology organisation deploying robotics across its fulfilment, transportation and delivery network. They are looking for a Vendor Manager to join the Technical Vendor Management team within their Robotics Delivery and Packaging Innovation group. The team supports third-party vendor strategy and commercial operations for deployment programs.
You will manage relationships with key robotics vendors, set the commercial and performance framework they work within, and work closely with technical leaders to align vendor capability with the product roadmap. The role involves regular contact with internal teams and vendors across multiple time zones.
Key responsibilities
Develop vendor qualification protocols and contracts, and represent the business in meetings with senior executives at top partners
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors, and drive adherence to agreed success criteria
Investigate safety, quality and performance gaps, and lead vendor improvement activities
Set and manage KPIs for vendor services, and report on performance, issues and resolutions
Onboard vendors into internal systems and maintain their status
Develop business cases and manage budgets for in-year projects and long-term vendor development partnerships
Work with technical leaders and program managers to influence the product improvement roadmap based on vendor capabilities
Run effective, collaborative project meetings with vendors
About you
Fluent in Japanese (essential)
Current right to work in Australia or Japan (essential)
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
Experience in a procurement organisation covering vendor management, contract management, complex negotiations and bidding
Practical experience with source-to-contract processes and procurement methods such as category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFx, reverse auctions and contracting
Experience supporting procurement planning, vendor capacity management or commercial operations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
