Position: Production Manager

Proactive are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to join an innovative creative production business specialising in large-scale events, installations, exhibitions and brand activations.

Responsibilities:

Manage projects from initial concept and pre-production through to final deliveryWork closely with producers, designers, technical teams and other stakeholders to develop practical production solutionsProduce detailed production specifications and initial cost estimates to support new business and project proposalsAct as a key point of contact for clients, confidently communicating production methods, technical requirements, timelines and costsManage external suppliers, subcontractors and production partners throughout the project lifecycleWork closely with fabrication teams to develop pricing, production plans and delivery schedules for bespoke assetsSource, assess and develop relationships with new suppliers while maintaining strong existing supplier partnershipsEstablish appropriate staffing and crew requirements for each projectCoordinate freelancers, contractors and local production crews as requiredManage production budgets, monitor expenditure and accurately reconcile project costsEnsure all production activities comply with relevant health and safety requirementsPrepare, review and manage RAMS, method statements and other project documentationCoordinate and oversee installations, live events and de-rig activities both in the UK and internationallyWork closely with technical and fabrication teams to ensure projects are delivered to specificationIdentify and resolve production, technical and logistical challenges throughout the projectTravel within the UK and internationally and work outside standard hours when project requirements dictate

Skills:

Significant experience in event, experiential, exhibition, installation or creative production managementProven experience managing medium to large-scale events or complex production projectsStrong project and team management experienceEstablished network of suppliers, subcontractors and production partnersStrong estimating, budgeting and commercial management skillsBroad technical understanding of event production, fabrication and installationStrong knowledge of scenic construction methods, materials and fabrication processesExperience working with technical drawings and production documentationProficiency in AutoCAD, Vectorworks or SketchUp Experience producing, interpreting or reviewing construction and technical drawingsStrong understanding of health and safety requirements, including RAMS and method statementsExcellent communication and client-facing skillsWillingness and ability to travel throughout the UK and internationally

They have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This position is well-suited to a creative and hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, collaborating across multiple disciplines, and contributing throughout the entire product development life cycle.

This position is based within the Engineering department and reports to the Engineering Manager. You will support the design, development, and implementation of conveyor and material handling systems while collaborating closely with manufacturing, operations, and project teams to deliver innovative automation solutions.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop conveyor and material handling equipment using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.Create engineering drawings, layouts, technical documentation, and manufacturing packages.Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings.Support new product development projects from concept through implementation.Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and component selection.Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and internal teams to troubleshoot and improve designs.Provide technical support for production activities, field installations, and product improvements.Assist with testing procedures, engineering documentation, and product validation activities.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.5+ years of design engineering experience.Proficiency with SolidWorks (preferred), AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software.Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.Familiarity with conveyor systems, warehouse automation, or material handling equipment is advantageous.Basic knowledge of electrical controls and automation systems preferred.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work collaboratively within fast-paced cross-functional teams.

Four-year degree in a relevant engineering field, preferably mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing

§ 20+ years' experience in an applicable engineering field, 5-10+ years in a leadership role

§ Proficiency in modern manufacturing methods and processes

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics and customer specifications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Excellent math skills are required. Individuals in this position must be able to perform engineering calculations employing algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as required.


COMPUTER SKILLS:

· Proficient with 2D AutoCAD

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Outlook


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. Employee spends time on shop floor, which could be significant portions of the day at times and require lifting up to 50 lbs. This role also requires spending time sitting in front of a computer.


TRAVEL:

Typically 15% or less


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. Typical workdays are split between the two environments but can sometimes be skewed heavily towards one or the other depending on work content at any given time. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers' plants or at suppliers. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection in most areas. This position is on site in Port Clinton, OH.
