The employer is a rapidly growing conveyor systems integrator serving the retail, e-commerce and distribution markets. With a 750,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and a strong focus on engineered material-handling solutions, they offer an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineering Manager to join their growing team.

This position is well-suited to a technically minded and people-focused engineering leader looking to lead a design engineering team while playing a key role in the development and delivery of complex conveyor and material-handling solutions.

The position sits within the Manufacturing Engineering department and reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. You will lead and develop the Design Engineering team, oversee mechanical designs and engineered solutions, and work closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing and Installation to drive technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

· Lead, mentor and develop a team of design engineers and technical staff.

· Oversee conveyor system layouts, 3D CAD designs, engineering drawings and mechanical designs.

· Provide technical leadership across motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys, drives and other mechanical systems.

· Support new product development, design-for-manufacturability and cost reduction initiatives.

· Collaborate with Manufacturing to improve production efficiency and resolve technical issues.

· Support customer, supplier and pre-sales technical discussions.

· Drive engineering standards, processes and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.

· 10+ years of progressive engineering experience.

· 3+ years of direct people leadership experience preferred.

· Strong mechanical design and engineering background, ideally within conveyor/material handling.

· High proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD.

· Knowledge of power transmission systems including motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys and drives.

· Experience working within a manufacturing environment and applying DFM principles.

· Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.

· Experience with ERP, PLM/PDM and engineering change processes is advantageous.
