The role -

Use the company system to estimate, design, cost and build quotations that are 100% relevant to the customer's requirements

Experience in Eplan or Electrical CAD

Experience with DraftSgiht would be advantageous

Be competent using CAD systems to draw Electrical Circuits that can be used by the manufacturing team

Liaise directly with customers, understand, and manage customer expectations

Solve problems and provide solutions when designing

Liaise with and cooperate with suppliers

Work with customer and business timelines

Meet company expectations around productivity and quality

Adhere to company systems and processes

Follow the company guide lines around self and time planning, using the company's system

Support the office and team, answer phones, engage and take ownership

Join in and support company meetings and team-based discussions

Understand and respect the company culture

Responsibilities:

● Integrate ABB robotic systems into automated warehouse and material handling environments

● Configure and troubleshoot communication between ABB robots, PLCs, conveyors,
scanners, and control systems

● Support commissioning, installation, testing, and startup activities for robotic cells

● Program and troubleshoot ABB robot controllers (IRC5 / OmniCore)

● Work with controls and software teams to validate end-to-end system performance

● Support PLC-to-robot communication and industrial network integration

● Perform onsite debugging and issue resolution during commissioning and go-live

● Participate in FAT and SAT testing activities

● Ensure sufficient operation of robotic systems in production environments

● Provide technical documentation and support operational handover

Requirements:

● Strong experience with ABB robotics integration and commissioning

● Hands-on experience with ABB RobotStudio, IRC5 and/or OmniCore controllers

● Strong RAPID programming skills

● Experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal)

● Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Profi net, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP

● Experience integrating robots with conveyors, sensors, scanners, palletizing, and material handling systems

● Ability to troubleshoot live automation systems onsite

● Experience in warehouse automation, intralogistics, or industrial automation projects

West Midlands

£46,000 - £54,000

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You'll be responsible for the design and development of electrical and control systems across a variety of exciting projects - ensuring each is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical and control systems using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN Electric and EPLAN Pro Panel softwareProduce complete project documentation, including:Multi-line and single-line diagrams, terminal and cable schedules, GA layouts, bus network overviews, and electrical arrangement drawingsReports and lists such as BOMs, wire and cable labels, device tags, and revision overviewsImport and export drawings using DXF/DWG formatsPerform thermal calculations, safety evaluations, and generate compliance documentation (e.g. SISTEMA reports)Ensure all designs meet industry codes, standards, and company quality requirementsCollaborate with project managers, manufacturing, and commissioning teams to deliver projects on time and within budgetProvide technical support throughout the project lifecycle - from concept to installation and commissioning

Requirements

HND or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum 5 years' experience in electrical design for control systemsStrong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN Pro PanelSolid understanding of safety, HSE, ISO, and other relevant engineering standardsAbility to read, interpret, and produce electrical drawings accuratelyExcellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organisational skillsConfident working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary teamFull UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
