Due to continued growth within their Automated Vehicle Engineering group, Daifuku is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support the design and development of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) used across a variety of industrial applications.

This opportunity is ideal for an innovative and technically driven engineer who enjoys solving complex automation challenges and contributing to the development of next-generation autonomous vehicle technologies.

The Role

Reporting into the Automated Vehicle Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing and validating electrical and control systems for AGV and AMR platforms. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, commissioning and customer teams to deliver reliable, safe and high-performance automated vehicle solutions.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret customer specifications and project requirements.Define system scope, operational concepts and functional requirements.Develop electrical and controls system concepts, specifications and design documentation.Produce electrical schematics, layouts and as-built documentation.Perform component selection and electrical system design for AGV and AMR platforms.Manage project budgets, schedules and engineering deliverables.Evaluate technical risks and ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.Support manufacturing teams during vehicle build and testing activities.Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support during commissioning and operation.Drive product improvements and support continuous development initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.7+ years of experience in electrical design and automation engineering.Experience designing electrical systems for automation equipment, AGVs, AMRs, robotics or material handling systems.Ability to read, create and interpret electrical schematics and layouts.Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and controls systems.Experience with power distribution, industrial controls, PLC interfaces, motor controllers and I/O systems.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent electrical design software.Panel design and component layout.Harness design and wire routing.Experience with PLCs, industrial computers and automation controls.Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ANSI B56.5, UL 583 and ISO 3691 standards.Experience supporting manufacturing, testing and commissioning activities.
