What You'll Do

THE ENGINEERING CHALLENGEPerform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenancePerforming continuous improvement activitiesProvide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entryIdentify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirementsMonitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholdersIdentifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail CentreAbility to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goalsWorking rotating shift pattern early, lates and nights

Technical Excellence

Oversee complex automated systems including ASRS and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robotics) technologyImplement best-in-class maintenance strategies to maximize operational efficiencyPreventative maintenance operations while minimizing equipment downtime

What You'll Bring

Essential Experience

Electrical and mechanical engineering qualifications (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)Hands-on experience maintaining complex automation equipmentStrong understanding of Health & Safety legislationAbility to communicate technical concepts clearlyFull UK driving licenseAdaptability and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team

You will be responsible for

As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be at the critical intersection of electrical engineering and advanced automation. You'll maintain the complex systems that power our national distribution network, applying your expertise to:

Responsibilities will include;

Responsible for performing malfunction and maintenance work as well as carrying out preventive and periodic maintenance, in collaboration with colleagues. Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, improving efficiency, and effectiveness.Resolving electrical, mechanical technical faultsWorking closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.General day to day maintenance duties.Representing the brand by demonstrating our core values maintaining a positive attitude & taking pride in wearing the uniform.Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.

You will need

As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or industrial environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.

Operational Skills:

Apprentice trained or City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 or above in Electrical Engineering/ Maintenance or similar.Experience within an FMCG / MHE manufacturing or automated environmentProficient communication skillsAbility to work in a time critical environment.Health & Safety awareness

Electrical Engineer Primary Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for working in a clean automated environment during an exciting growth phase for the company.

As a key member of the Maintenance team, you will ensure the smooth operation of the factory in a safe and effective manner in addition to following the health and safety advice and guidance as instructed.

Working in a specialist field, you will fulfil all aspects of the role following working procedures and safe systems of work where appropriate, to carry out repairs, breakdowns and planned preventative maintenance, reporting any equipment fault or malfunction that cannot be fixed.

To work with; conveyor systems, ASRS systems, sort systems, scanning and labelling systems

Key Accountabilities

Maintain all materials handling equipment and ensure an efficient operation of the Building Management SystemEnsure "maintenance only" areas within the warehouse and other plant and equipment remain clean and to ensure the maintenance stores and workshop areas are kept clean and tidyTo take delivery of maintenance spares and equipment as required, locating in stores or maintenance workshopEnsure a flexible and common-sense approach to Health and Safety - notifying Team Managers and/or other staff members of any type of hazard which can be dealt with by the post holder; ensure the safety of others working within the areas of the warehouseAssist in the completion and review of risk assessments for the departmentUndertake regular health & safety inspections with the Site Management TeamPromote and participate in Fun, Fair and rewarding activities within your department or on siteParticipate in and encourage idea generation to benefit departments through STPs in line with Target Zero

Competencies

Excellent communication skillsAbility to work to tight deadlines and/or under pressureDeveloping self and othersPlanning & Organisation: paying close attention to detail

Qualifications/Experience -

Experience of working within a similar role (FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Waste to recycling, Baggage Handling, Automated warehousing)

A proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Experience of working within a high-pressured environment

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in engineering (electrical or mechanical)

Specific Skills/Knowledge Essential Desirable

Ability to prioritise and manage own workload

Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and level of accuracy

Flexible approach to working hours

A proven ability to take ownership of tasks and situations

Displays an enthusiastic approach to the role

Good level of PC Skills

Responsibilities:

Perform planned maintenance with a focus on proactive issue detection.Swiftly address breakdowns and conduct effective corrective maintenance.Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in various devices.Log work and parts data onto the WMS systemShowcase strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.Maintain professionalism in all customer interactions.Consistently meet and enhance contract SLAs.Provide support to other technicians and shifts as needed.Adhere to company health and safety regulations for a secure work environment.

Requirements:

Completed time-served apprenticeship or equivalent training.Hold City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 or higher in mechanical or electrical field.Prior experience in FMCG manufacturing or automated warehousing (preferred).Ability to obtain and maintain a full airside pass.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient with computer systems, including CMMS.Skilled in reading and interpreting drawings.Effective workload planning and prioritization abilities, can work independently and in teams, and open to overtime.Maintains a professional appearance and respectful demeanor.Desirable skills: 18th edition, ONC/HNC, multiskilled, PLC and diagnostics experience, training/coaching experience.
