Position: Maintenance Operative
Salary: £30,000 - depending on experience
Location: Essex
Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00am - 16:00 - Early finish Friday

Proactive are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Operative to begin work for a leading manufacturing and engineering company based in Essex. This is a permanent position and an exciting role working for a market leader within the automated machinery and pharmaceutical industry offering ample opportunity for progression and development.

This person needs to possess a can-do attitude approach to the role. The position requires a good attention to detail and collaboration with team members to meet company requirements.

Personal Attributes:

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsible for performing daily maintenance tasks around the workspaces.Assist with scheduled cleaning, repair, and maintenance.Adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.Adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.Organise areas to facilitate efficient task completion.Help to support stock management & inventory checks to ensure adequate supplies are available at all times.Performing general maintenance and repairs on property fixtures and fittings and general grounds maintenance.Minor painting and decorating work within the building if and when required.Minor plumbing maintenance activities such as washer/plug replacement, descaling items, unblocking sinks.Assist with packing and unpacking of equipment.Change light bulbs/fittings and basic electrical works if needed.Repair, install and build furniture, shelving, wall mounting of TVs, pictures, etc.Routine ad-hoc landscaping, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, sweeping and clearing leaves.Supervision of maintenance contractors when they are on-site.Deliver and collect parcels and equipment to and from various sites.Undertake any ad-hoc tasks deemed necessary by the Management.

As a Mechanical Technician the duties can be quite varied, you will be required to assist in the machining, manufacturing and assembly of company enclosures, equipment and machinery. You will need to have keen attention to detail and careful handling of materials.

Some Responsibilities Include:

Preparing production materials, machining and lock assembly.Assembly of frame/enclosures and fitting to machinery lines.Dis-assembly of tested lines and preparation of items ready for transport and assembly at customers sitesSome basic pneumatic assemblyAssembly, support and commissioning work at some customer sites.There may be a small amount of travel to support installation to our worldwide customer base.

Skills/Attributes:

Basic engineering skills including mechanical assembly and machine operation.Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings.Ability to work in a team with attention to detail.Good knowledge of health and safety protocols.Ideally hold an Engineering certification/apprenticeship - Desirable.

Position: Test Technician
Salary: £30,000 - depending on experience (Negotiable for the right candidate)

Proactive are currently recruiting for an experienced Test Technician to begin work for a leading manufacturing and engineering company based in Essex. This is a permanent position and an exciting role working for a market leader within the automated machinery and pharmaceutical industry offering ample opportunity for progression and development.

The role will involve undertaking various test protocols as part of the commissioning of production lines and ensuring the equipment functions correctly. You will be required to report the results to the project team for review and action to support the Managers and Engineering Technicians.

Initially this role will focus on performing tests on equipment using company prepared test protocols to support the verification process of the machines. This will provide consistency in the testing approach whilst learning how each machine operates.

Responsibilities within the role:

Execute company generated test protocols.Completion of all relevant test documentation.Reporting any and all incidents or failures identified during test period.Reporting details from executed tests and outcomes.Reporting feedback and helping to identify improvements to the test processes to improve efficiency.Liaising with the customers validation teams during Factory Acceptance and on-site testing.Take responsibility for the maintenance and calibration of company test equipment.

Skills required:

A formal engineering qualification is preferred.Good knowledge of MS Office including MS Word/Excel.Good knowledge and understanding of automation equipment and machinery.Previous experience of testing within an engineering / manufacturing company.

The role will involve working with the Automation Technicians and Design Team in the production of electrical wiring diagrams for company control systems.

Responsibilities:

Working as part of the automation team to wire and instal electrical control panels.Cross referencing of required panel components against wiring diagram and control panel layouts.Assembly of control panel enclosure: building plinths, assembling bays and side panels.Layout chassis plates in line with blueprints and work alongside Electrical Draughtsman to accomplish best panel layout and specifications.Assembly of components on to chassis plate and fix accordingly.Using the issued wiring diagrams wire the control panel working with the Electrical Design Draughtsman and Automation Technician.

Experience:

Essential

Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship)

Desirable

Familiarity with Automated production machinery or other similar capital equipment.Worked in a project environment in cross-functional project teams.

Job role and scope

You are part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will lead a small team of buyers in a busy purchasing department. You will be responsible for providing timely and accurate costing proposals for new quotes. Your team will also be focused on new product introduction and day-to-day production and non-stock buying; ensuring that suppliers are chased to ensure timely delivery of stock components and products. The role will demand a 'hands-on' approach with the ability to work at pace and be tenacious to see things through to a successful outcome. You will work collaboratively with business development, customer service, production, quality and engineering departments to ensure that the supply of stock meets the requirements of this busy factory.

Main responsibilities

Negotiate supplier price, lead time and delivery quotations.Manage purchasing for strategic customers.Develop close working relationship with other key functions in the company to support commercial negotiations for new projects.Analyse complex data for multiple components and reach decisions on the best purchasing options.Ensure the correct use & data integrity of the MRP system, Factory Master, to support purchasing and quoting activities.Provide additional support in the day-to-day buying and purchasing activities of the team in times of high workload or absence.Recruit, induct and train new starters and support development of less senior team members.Set future department goals and assist in projects for further business improvement.Present and evaluate data to Head Office for Group and local KPIs.Represent the department in monthly management meetings.Ensure all procedures and work practices are up-to-date and fit for purpose, representing the department in QA audits.

Skills, knowledge & experience

ü Supply chain management and purchasing experience within the electronics industry (ideally Contract Electronics Manufacturing).

ü Previous experience as a senior buyer; minimum of 5 years.

ü Knowledge and experience in the use of an ERP system such as Factory Master.

ü Able to lead and manage others with purchasing responsibilities.

ü Excellent organisational and planning skills.

ü Strong numerical and analytical skills using Excel and databases.

ü Problem solving and strong initiative to think laterally and find solutions.
