Sheet Metal Operative

Monday- Thursday, 7:00am-3:30pm , Friday, 07:00 am to 12 pm

We are looking for a highly skilled Sheet Metal Operative for an immediate requirement. The role involves precision sheet metal work with thin gauge materials (up to 2mm max), focusing on high-quality, aesthetic finishes. You will be fabricating server rack boxes and precision-engineered components, mainly using stainless steel and aluminium. This is a fine limit, high-accuracy fabrication role, not structural or heavy fabrication. Candidates should have strong experience in thin gauge sheet metal work, cutting, forming, and assembly to a very high standard. MIG welding is not required, however TIG welding experience would be an advantage.

We are specifically seeking candidates with precision engineering or fine fabrication backgrounds (not construction, architectural, or heavy structural welding).

Authorities and Responsibilities:

Maintain all health and safety disciplines.Predominately TIG welding of stainless steel and aluminium.Able to MIG weld mild steel fabrications.Spot weldingUse of guillotine notching machinesFolding using press breaks & ability to develop flat patterns.Use of manual box folding and rolling equipmentAble to use bench drill for drilling and tapping.Use PEMS inserting machine.Part finishing including handheld grinding and polishing equipment.Able to work to a high standard / tight tolerance, small batch work or one-offs.Produce components to drawing specification and required quality standards.Maintain machines, tooling, and good housekeeping always.Organise area & tooling to maximise productivity.Operate all plant equipment to procedure and health and safety guidelines.Willingness to participate in improvement activities across the business.Assist in problem solving when issues arise.Must embrace change and be willing to adopt new skills to support all areas of the business.To be flexible in a small team-oriented environment

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Ability:

Good communication skillsTo be able to read and understand engineering drawings and procedures.Proficient using measuring equipment.Understand the importance of following process & standards.Must possess a positive can do attitude.Must have the ability to work without supervision.Must be prepared to undertake all reasonable requests as determined by the business needs.Strong organisational & housekeeping standards, experience of working with 5S methodology & lean tools an advantage.

Assembly Technicians Required Dorking - Immediate Starts Available

Key Authorities and Responsibilities:
* To be able to read and understand engineering drawings, for sub-assemblies, taking note of fitting tolerances and critical dimensions.
* Working to drawings and build instructions, be able to build complex assemblies with up to 150 components on a bill of materials.
* An awareness of how to fault find and determine cause of failure or issues, to develop a solution.
* Have a keen eye for detail, being able to identify contaminants in a built assembly that would cause the instrument to fail under test.
* To be able to work efficiently with an eye to continuous improvement, trying to save time and increase output.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Ability:
* Be a self-starter that can work independently towards set targets and goals
* Attention to detail
* Be organised in working process, having an awareness of 5S systems.
* Is a hands on problem solver.
* Able to work with Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook)
* To be able to work safely, following risk assessments, H&S guidance and best practice.
* At least 5 years' experience in the field of engineering required.
* Experience with Insinga
* Knowledge and experience of Manual lathe
* Skills akin to a tool maker for one off orders in addition to bulk orders
* Ability to use measuring tools i.e., micrometre, digital caliper

Normal working hours, 07.00 to 15.30 Monday to Thursday, 07.00 to 12.00 Friday, 30 mins lunch, 20 days paid leave per annum, plus 8 statutory bank holidays. (Option to start at 06.00 and finish earlier each day)
Company pension contribution 3% of basic salary and non-contributory health cash plan.
