Position: Machine Shop Operative

Salary: £27,319

Location: Thame

Shift - Late shift 2.30pm to 11.00pm Monday to Thursday and 11:00am to 4.00pm on Friday's.

Proactive are currently recruiting for a machine shop operative to work in Thame. You will be required to provide a highly flexible response to variations in demand with minimum supervision, carrying out production activities relating to the manufacture of components and assembly of product. All successful candidates will be required to use hand tools, follow written instructions, and stand at a work bench throughout the day.

Duties will include:

Operation of various machines including drills, routers, presses and Hurco CNCsLiaise with Team Leaders and ensure stock levels are kept up to date.Alert the Production Manager or other appropriate staff of any plant or equipment maintenance issues.Offer suggestions to the Team Leader/Line Manager that will improve the efficiency and safety of production areas and equipment.Raise awareness of manufacturing problems with the Production Manager and work with others to find and effectively implement solutions.

Experience / Skills Required:

Previous experience in engineering, ideally either CNC, manual machining or sheet metal/fabricationGood manual dexterityExcellent attention to detailPrevious experience assembling productAble to multi task successfully

The ideal candidate would have the following experience below:

Machine shop experience and a good working knowledge of safe workshop practices.Be flexible. They will be expected to man and operate the brake press & laser (with training) and also the bandsaw. They will also take on deburring and general machine shop duties from time to time.If they have experience operating a manual lathe and mill, that would be a distinct advantage.
