Manual Turner / Lathe Setter / Operator
Location - Bristol
Rate - Negotiable on experience
Purpose of Role
To manufacture components from drawings working to specific tolerances and within agreed timeframes, ensuring all parts are available for the assembly process as required.
Reporting to: Machine shop manager / Team leader
Key responsibilities/Activities:Install software programs into machines via various methods including keying from a drawing and downloading from databases, also undertake setting and operating as requiredSelect appropriate materials for each job as described in the drawingsRun the machine to produce required components, working to drawings and specificationsCheck and verify accuracy of components once manufacturedDaily and accurate completion of records including timesheetsSelf inspect components and report any manufacturing errors to line manager so corrective action can be agreedAdhere to all quality and H&S standardsWork with other departments to set priorities regarding component manufacture to ensure all parts are produced within required timeframesOther duties as may be requiredCompetencies/Skills:Good attention to detailGood oral communicationTeam playerFlexible attitudeWillingness to learn/developAbility to read drawings/parts listsBackground/Experience:Successfully completed apprenticeshipCNC programming experience - Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, MazakExperience of working with a wide variety of materialsUnderstanding of manufacturing protocolsKnowledge of feeds and speeds
