Position: Manufacturing Manager

Proactive are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Manager to join an established and growing engineering and manufacturing business.

As a Manufacturing Manager, you'll be responsible for leading manufacturing operations, developing people and processes, improving efficiency and ensuring production activities consistently meet customer, quality and commercial requirements.

Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership and strategic direction across multiple manufacturing and production functionsTake overall responsibility for manufacturing performance, productivity and operational efficiencyLead, develop and support departmental management teams to achieve business and production objectivesEffectively manage labour, equipment and other resources to maximise production outputOversee production planning and ensure products are manufactured and delivered in line with customer requirements and agreed deadlinesDrive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, quality and costMonitor key production metrics and use operational data to identify and implement improvementsEnsure manufacturing processes comply with relevant quality, environmental, health and safety and regulatory requirementsSupport the introduction of new products, processes, equipment and tooling into productionWork closely with engineering and commercial teams to ensure new and existing products can be manufactured effectivelyLead and support operational improvement and capital investment projects where requiredDevelop a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high performance across the manufacturing functionMaintain strong relationships with customers and key internal stakeholders to ensure manufacturing requirements are understood and deliveredWork collaboratively with quality, engineering, production planning, sales and other business functions to support operational objectivesEnsure departmental targets and KPIs are understood, monitored and achieved

Skills:

Minimum 10 years' experience within Engineering or Manufacturing ManagementProven experience managing multiple manufacturing functions within a fast-paced production environmentStrong leadership and people management experienceDemonstrable experience of driving continuous improvement and operational excellenceStrong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and resource managementExperience managing production performance against KPIs and business objectivesGood understanding of quality, health and safety and regulatory requirements within a manufacturing environmentExperience with MS Office and ERP/business management systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levelsHighly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and work effectively to deadlinesCommercially aware with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational performance

Team Managers stepping up into their first Site Services Manager role will also be considered.

Key Requirements

Experience working within manufacturing and site services/ facilties i.e. boilers, HVAC

Proven experience managing engineering teams

Electrical or Mechanical qualification or completed apprenticeship

Key Responsibilities

Deliver and manage the planned preventative maintenance programme

Implement and manage maintenance schedules to ensure optimal plant condition

Maintain and develop planned maintenance systems with budget accountability

Create flexible maintenance plans aligned to production demands

Allocate work to engineering specialists and manage performance feedback

Identify training needs and develop team capability plans

Manage spare parts stock levels to support operational continuity while controlling cost

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and training requirements

Support Continuous Improvement and Zero Loss initiatives
