Proactive are currently recruiting for a Senior Construction Manager to join a fast-paced and innovative creative production business specialising in large-scale events, experiential projects and bespoke fabrication.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage scenic construction and fabrication projects through the workshop from initial production to completionSupervise and support workshop teams on a day-to-day basis, ensuring workloads, resources and deadlines are effectively managedTake ownership of assigned projects, coordinating production activity to ensure delivery against agreed timescales and budgetsAccurately estimate and cost fabrication projects, taking into account materials, labour and production requirementsManage project budgets effectively, monitoring expenditure and ensuring accurate financial reconciliationIdentify and resolve technical challenges throughout the fabrication and construction processDevelop practical solutions to complex construction and fabrication problemsInterpret technical drawings, models, plans and elevations to ensure work is produced accurately and to the required standardWork closely with production managers, designers and technical teams to plan fabrication and assembly processesEnsure technical information and assembly requirements are clearly communicated and documentedMaintain high standards of quality across all workshop and fabrication activitiesWork closely with workshop management to ensure machinery and equipment are appropriately maintained and servicedSupport the development, training and progression of workshop technicians and junior team membersBuild effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, clients and external production partnersAssist with the planning and delivery of complex installations, fit-ups and large-scale fabrication projects where requiredSafely handle and manoeuvre large, complex and intricate fabricated structures and scenery

Skills:

Minimum 5 years' experience within a scenic construction, event production, exhibition, theatre or specialist fabrication environmentStrong practical carpentry and/or metalwork skillsStrong understanding of materials, construction methods and fabrication techniques used within events or creative productionGood understanding of project costing, budgets and resource managementAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, elevations and 3D modelsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to make effective decisions under pressureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsConfident leading and supporting a diverse workshop teamStrong understanding of health and safety requirements within a workshop, events, theatre or construction environmentHigh attention to detail with a strong commitment to qualityProactive approach with a willingness to develop new skills and improve working practicesConfident working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider production teamExperience with CAD or other technical design software would be advantageousForklift experience would be advantageous
