Our client is a leading provider of airport baggage handling and airport logistics solutions, delivering complex automated systems for major airports and aviation infrastructure projects across North America. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Baggage Handling Systems Solutions Architect - Tendering to join their team.

This opportunity would suit a technically minded and commercially aware professional who enjoys solving complex automation challenges and wants to play a key role in developing innovative baggage handling solutions for some of the world's busiest airports.

The Role

Reporting to the Tendering Manager, you will be responsible for developing technically robust, commercially competitive and operationally effective baggage handling solutions during the pre-sales and tendering phase.

You will analyse customer requirements, passenger forecasts, operational data and airport specifications to develop system concepts, build project cost models and support proposal development, ensuring solutions are aligned with customer objectives and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

Develop baggage handling system concepts including conveyor systems, sortation systems, screening integration, early bag storage (EBS), make-up systems and associated controls solutions.

Create system layouts, baggage flow diagrams, operational concepts and functional descriptions to support customer proposals.

Perform engineering calculations, throughput analysis and simulation activities to validate system performance and capacity assumptions.

Develop project cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments and technical proposal documentation.

Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Procurement and Project Delivery teams throughout the tendering process.

Support customer presentations, design reviews and technical workshops with airport operators, airlines and project stakeholders.

Evaluate technical and commercial risks while developing mitigation strategies and proposal assumptions.

Support the successful handover of awarded projects into execution.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

5+ years of experience within airport baggage handling systems, material handling, airport logistics, warehouse automation, applications engineering, estimating or solution design.

Experience designing, estimating or developing automated baggage handling systems.

Understanding of airport operations, baggage processing flows and screening system integration.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering design tools.

Strong analytical and commercial skills with advanced Excel capability.

Experience developing cost estimates, scope documents and preliminary project schedules.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Willingness to travel up to 25%.
