We are looking for a High Voltage Technician to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing team responsible for the build, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to work on advanced technologies within a regulated production environment, supporting product development, fault investigation, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

Build, install, test, commission, and maintain high-voltage equipment and systems.Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting using specialist test equipment.Support operational testing and performance monitoring activities.Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.Complete maintenance records, test reports, and technical documentation accurately.

Requirements

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.Proven experience working with high-voltage electrical systems.Experience with installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding.Strong understanding of HV safety procedures, switching, and lockout/tagout (LOTO).Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.Experience within a manufacturing, production, engineering, utilities, rail, power generation, or industrial environment.

Desirable Skills

HVDC systems experience.HV Authorised Person (AP) certification.IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification.Experience working with quality systems and controlled engineering documentation.Knowledge of transformers, converters, switchgear, control systems, and power distribution equipment

The Role

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Technician to join a specialist engineering team responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment and power conversion systems.

The successful candidate will work with complex electrical equipment, including converters, transformers, filters and associated control systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards and established safety procedures.

This role requires strong electrical engineering knowledge, practical diagnostic skills and a disciplined approach to safety, documentation and quality within a regulated engineering or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Testing and Maintenance

Install, test, commission and maintain high-voltage electrical equipment, including converters, transformers, electrical filters and control systems.Carry out routine inspections, functional testing and maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and operational performance.Perform electrical diagnostics and fault-finding activities using specialist test equipment, measurement instruments and technical documentation.Investigate equipment faults, identify underlying causes and support the implementation of effective corrective actions.Assist with operational testing, system monitoring and control activities to verify equipment performance against required specifications.Support the configuration, testing and validation of electrical systems following installation, maintenance or modification.

High-Voltage Safety and Compliance

Carry out all work in accordance with high-voltage safety procedures, approved working practices and applicable electrical engineering standards.Follow established switching procedures, isolation requirements and lockout/tagout (LOTO) processes, in line with relevant authorisations and site procedures.Identify electrical hazards and ensure appropriate safety precautions are implemented before commencing work.Comply with applicable environmental requirements, workplace safety policies and engineering procedures.Ensure work is undertaken within the limits of personal competence, training and authorisation.

Quality Assurance and Documentation

Maintain accurate technical documentation, including maintenance records, test results, inspection reports and system configuration details.Work in accordance with established quality management systems, including ISO 9001 requirements and controlled engineering procedures.Support product quality investigations and root cause analysis of failed or defective hardware.Identify and report equipment defects, non-conformances and quality concerns promptly.Assist with corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues and minimise the risk of recurrence.Ensure engineering work is completed and recorded in accordance with approved specifications and documentation requirements.

Teamwork and Continuous Improvement

Collaborate with engineering, production, testing and quality teams to resolve technical issues and maintain equipment reliability.Contribute to improvements in maintenance procedures, testing methods and operational practices.Maintain a professional, accountable and safety-conscious approach to all assigned responsibilities.Demonstrate integrity, innovation and effective teamwork while adhering to organisational policies and professional conduct standards.

Essential Requirements

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Experience working with high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems.High Voltage Authorised Person (HV AP) certification or equivalent relevant authorisation.IPC J-STD-001 certification in soldered electrical and electronic assemblies.Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems, quality investigations and controlled engineering documentation.Experience supporting root cause analysis, equipment failure investigations and corrective actions.

We are looking for a Test & Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing environment producing advanced testing equipment. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on electro-mechanical testing, fault-finding, calibration and commissioning. You will work with equipment incorporating sensors, transducers, actuators, control electronics and electro-mechanical or hydraulic systems, ensuring products meet the required operational and performance standards before being delivered to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out electro-mechanical assembly of specialist testing equipment using engineering drawings, build documentation and work instructions.Perform functional and performance testing, calibration and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).Test and commission systems incorporating sensors, transducers, actuators, control electronics and hydraulic components.Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and electronic faults during assembly, testing and commissioning.Apply structured fault-finding techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to senior engineering colleagues with clear diagnostic information.Complete accurate test, calibration and quality documentation in accordance with established procedures.Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Technical Support teams to ensure smooth progression of equipment from build through to despatch.Support the planning and prioritisation of testing and commissioning activities.Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report hazards, near misses and non-conformances appropriately.Develop a working knowledge of principles and how they relate to the equipment being tested.Identify opportunities to improve testing, assembly and commissioning processes.

About You

Desirable Experience

About the Role:

Reporting to the Test & Commissioning Manager, with day-to-day technical guidance from the Senior Test & Commissioning Engineer, the Test & Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the electro-mechanical testing, calibration and commissioning of Client geotechnical testing equipment.
