Proactive are currently recruiting for an experienced Test Technician to begin work for a leading manufacturing and engineering company based in Essex. This is a permanent position and an exciting role working for a market leader within the automated machinery and pharmaceutical industry offering ample opportunity for progression and development.
The role will involve undertaking various test protocols as part of the commissioning of production lines and ensuring the equipment functions correctly. You will be required to report the results to the project team for review and action to support the Managers and Engineering Technicians.
Initially this role will focus on performing tests on equipment using company prepared test protocols to support the verification process of the machines. This will provide consistency in the testing approach whilst learning how each machine operates.
Responsibilities within the role:
Execute company generated test protocols.Completion of all relevant test documentation.Reporting any and all incidents or failures identified during test period.Reporting details from executed tests and outcomes.Reporting feedback and helping to identify improvements to the test processes to improve efficiency.Liaising with the customers validation teams during Factory Acceptance and on-site testing.Take responsibility for the maintenance and calibration of company test equipment.Skills required:
A formal engineering qualification is preferred.Good knowledge of MS Office including MS Word/Excel.Good knowledge and understanding of automation equipment and machinery.Previous experience of testing within an engineering / manufacturing company.How to Apply:

JOB PURPOSE
Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies. Determine and develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems. Complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing. Prepare technical reports summarising findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialised test equipment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Competent in setting up and the use of oscilloscopes, DVMs, spectrum analysers for testing & fault finding electronic assemblies and computer driven test systems.To undertake fault finding tasks with electronic circuits using schematic diagramsTaking a leading role in finding the root cause of faults and assisting in implementation of root cause solutions within the manufacturing process. Often liaising with other production process teams.Set up test equipment and test jigs both for in-circuit and full functional testing of PCBAs and complete products.Test PCBAs and complete electronic products following test procedures recording test results as directed.Only pass assemblies that meet the test specification with all readings falling within test limits.Ensure test work is carried out to the production schedule, in order that production deadlines are met.To inform the Production management team if there are problems that may cause delay. Keep management informed of any significant problems with products under testTo investigate and fault find faulty electronic printed circuit assemblies or complete electronic based products using schematic diagrams and the full range of test equipment available leading to their repair.To keep records as required of test times and record fault data in a database.Suggest improvements in the testing of items to speed up the test process and achieve production test timesTo seek assistance, as required to help solve test related problems.To use commercial awareness in relation to the products being tested and repaired, balancing the value of the item against the time required to repair or test it.To follow the working procedures defined in use within the test department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Proven experience in testing & debug of complex analogue/digital PCB'sProven experience in electronics fault finding with electronic circuitsExperience of IPC-610 and IPC 7711/21 certificationDemonstratable experience of SMT, Through-Hole soldering and reworkDemonstratable experience of Electro-Mechanical assembly using hand toolsHighly attentive and a self-motivated problem solverStrong MS Office.
