Operate as a conduit between the Engineering and Project Management function and develop your skills, supporting a highly experienced Senior Project Leader.
Our client is a global leader in the design, delivery and maintenance of high-value, bespoke MHS/BHS solutions.
With projects around the globe, their Australian operation has an immediate opportunity for an experience Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager to join their well-established team. Based in any major east coast Australian city, the successful candidate will support the project leadership team in the delivery of a strong portfolio of multi-million dollar solutions. Specifically:
- Support Senior Project Managers / Project Directors during the delivery phase of major automated projects.
- Assist with sub-contractor and supplier management.
- Assist the the management of project costs.
- Manage and report on the project schedule.
- Collate and report project critical data to the management team.
- Assist with defect resolution and approvals.
In addition to your tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or mechatronics, you have 4+ years of supporting site-base project-based experience as a Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager. In addition, you are/have
- Ambitious and proactive.
- Experience in managing subcontractors / suppliers.
- Exposure to medium or high-value material handling, warehouse automation, baggage handing systems or automated manufacturing line projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and contract documentation.
- A good understanding of commercial and contractual issues, project scheduling / planning.
- Able to travel for interstate work when projects require.
- Driving licence.
- Existing working rights for Australia.

We're looking for someone with:
A current Queensland Electrical License (essential)
Experience in industrial maintenance or automated environments
Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and control systems
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens preferred), VSDs, sensors, and control wiring
CMMS experience and the ability to read electrical schematics
A safety-first mindset with excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable: Pneumatics & hydraulics post-trade certificate

What We're Looking For
Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (Engineering - Mechanical)
Currently licensed in QLD
Strong background in FMCG or industrial manufacturing environments
Sound knowledge of preventative maintenance, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fault finding
Comfortable working with maintenance software and systems
High level of safety awareness and commitment to Zero Harm principles
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive approach
Willingness to support site culture and contribute to continuous improvement
Desirable Experience
Experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment

About You
You're a Solutions Design Engineer or Automation Engineer with a talent for client engagement or a Sales Engineer skilled in conceptualising and costing automation solutions. You're equally comfortable in the office and on the factory floor-discussing automation ROI with decision-makers, drafting high-level CAD layouts and collaborating with operations.
Essential
- Background in Automation Engineering (either special purpose machinery, case packers, palletisers, material handling systems, manufacturing lines, automated warehouses, integrated robot cells or similar)
- Ability to design high-level layouts and estimate costs/payback.
- Strong interpersonal skills with comfort in both sales and technical conversations.
- Proficiency in CAD or excellent technical drawing and strong IT literacy.
