With significant autonomy, the successful applicant will design and develop software for technologies in robotics, industrial automation and real-time communications. Reporting directly to the IT/Software Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
- Build applications and services that improve usability and remote support
- Develop data analysis and reporting functionality
- Develop tools and dashboards for Materials Handling and Warehousing systems
- Design and develop to API specifications
- Develop innovative networking and communications solutions with a focus on cyber security,
scalability, and performance
- Work with mechanical and electrical teams on integration of IT Systems with mechatronic /
robotic systems
- Participate in code reviews with other engineers
- Set up server hardware, switches, virtualizing platforms and cloud environments
- Be part of the commissioning, installation and connection of developed systems on site.

About you:
Alongside your technical capability, it is your experience in automated warehouse/ intralogistics or material handling solutions that makes you the ideal candidate for this roles. In addition, you have
- Tertiary Qualification in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related
discipline
- 2+ years' experience in Software Development
- Solid programming skills with a good working knowledge of building APIs and of C#, SQL, JavaScript/node.js, HTML5
- Experience in implementing solutions on both Linux and Windows platforms
- Experience in design and development to API "best practice design" and specifications
- Excellent prioritisation skills
- Ability to review, understand, document and improve existing code / solutions

- Provide technical design, layout and estimating support to sales staff.

About you
You have tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar and can demonstrate strong design and development experience in ladder logic PLC programming (using at least one of - Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Rockwell, Omron) for industrial automation environment application. As well as having excellent client-facing communication skills, you are ambitious to broaden your technical experience and can already demonstrate:
- Expertise in SCADA development (using at least one of - Siemens WinCC, Aveva Plant SCADA, Ignition).
- Hands-on experience with Python, Docker, and Git.
- Understanding of networking, cybersecurity, and cloud integration for industrial applications.
- Knowledge of Linux-based systems for industrial automation.

Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Head of Intralogistics, you will play a pivotal role in consulting with end-clients, leading the solution and implementing hardware and WMS software logistics solutions in already automated and non-automated distribution centres. In this role, you will work closely with existing and new clients to provide efficient, effective and safe bespoke warehouse solutions that utilise the latest technology.

This dynamic and wide-ranging position brings a varied workload from consulting with clients about their operational needs, to site walk-throughs and running customer workshops to collaborating with internal colleagues and driving the design of a new solution.
Responsibilities will include:
* Work closely with and support the sales team during scoping phase by ensuring solutions meet the client business objectives
* Provide business insights to customers to assist them on the change management required to move to automated solutions
* Define customer supply chain processes.
* Analyse customers business requirement documentation / data and work with clients to establish business requirements
* Create operational process flows, functional design documents / scoping statements and design documents (including interface design documents)
* Support of project management in relation to technical details during project implementation.

About you:
Whether you come from a vendor, consultancy or end-client/3PL environment, you can demonstrate operational understanding of warehouse / DC operations and appreciate the importance of inventory integrity etc.
In addition to your Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics (or similar), you have strong expertise in hardware/software intralogistics solutions and enterprise systems, an appreciation of operations in large complex supply chain environments and experience in large and complex supply chain projects.
In addition, you have / are:
* Experience in consulting and integration, preferably including knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), or related software e.g. ERP, WCS or manufacturing
* Proven experience in either consulting or technology / CapEx leadership roles in supply chain
* Experience in manufacturing or warehouse automation is mandatory
* Some experience in software development lifecycle, including testing
* Ability to scope testing, including creation of test plans
* Ability to create training materials and operational procedures
* Experience in managing feedback loop to product management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
(Some experience in process re-engineering, lean six sigma or business transformations would be highly regarded but is not essential)

Note: although based in NSW or VIC, some interstate and occasional international travel is involved in this position.
