Senior Project Manager - Baggage Handling Systems

Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading large-scale baggage handling system projects for airports across North America. This role provides end-to-end ownership of project delivery, including planning, contractual management, technical oversight, financial control, and customer relationship management, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to required performance and quality standards.
Working within a fast-paced, matrixed organization, the Senior Project Manager leads cross-functional teams, manages customer expectations, and drives project-level decisions. On larger programs, this role may report to a Program Director and will act as a mentor to other project managers.

Overview

Lead delivery of complex baggage handling system projects across North America.Provide strategic direction and governance for project execution in a multi-disciplinary and matrixed environment, coordinating cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and external partners.Ensure project performance aligns with technical specifications, contractual commitments, compliance standards, and long-term client objectives.Serve as a senior liaison between internal leadership, customers, and executive stakeholders to drive program success and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Provide full project leadership and accountability for profitability, risk management, performance, and stakeholder satisfaction across multiple concurrent baggage handling projects.Develop and manage project master schedules, milestones, resource plans, and critical-path activities; proactively re-plan to mitigate schedule risks.Lead contract administration, change order management, claims mitigation, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.Oversee project financials including forecasting, budgeting, margin protection, and monthly reporting to senior leadership.Act as the primary client escalation point; build trusted executive-level relationships and deliver regular project briefings, including executive summaries and health reports.Lead and mentor multidisciplinary project teams and less-experienced project managers; establish clear priorities, resolve conflicts, and promote effective cross-department collaboration.Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including lessons learned, process standardization, and adoption of best practices across project delivery.Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across project execution and subcontractor activities.

Qualifications / Requirements

7+ years of progressive project management experience, with demonstrated success leading high-value, complex projects or portfolios.Proven experience managing large-scale baggage handling or airport automation projects.Strong track record managing subcontractors, consultants, multidisciplinary teams, and complex stakeholder groups in large project environments.Demonstrated ability to manage contracts, change control, claims, and commercial risks.Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills; comfortable presenting to executive-level audiences.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, or a related technical field; advanced degree a plus.Professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, P.E., or LEED accreditation.Deep experience with baggage handling systems, airport automation, or integrated control systems.Experience working within global organizations and managing cross-border project complexities.

We are supporting a leading warehouse automation integrator on a large-scale ASRS project and are looking to engage an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead on-site delivery.

This is a critical role responsible for overseeing installation, managing subcontractors and ensuring safe, on-time project execution through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all on-site installation activities across ASRS and material handling systems.Manage subcontractors and site teams to ensure productivity and quality.Coordinate with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams.Drive HSE compliance and maintain a strong safety culture on site.Track progress, resolve issues, and ensure milestones are met.Support commissioning and handover phases.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Site Manager / Senior Site Manager on automation or industrial projects.Strong ASRS experience (stacker cranes, shuttles, racking systems, etc.).Background in warehouse automation, material handling, or intralogistics.Experience working for integrators or on large-scale distribution/fulfilment projects.Strong leadership and subcontractor management skills.Willingness to work long hours on-site (50+ hours per week).
