Salary: £43-£45500 + Bonus + Good Pension
Shift: 12 hours Days only (lots of time off)

Toolroom Assistant

The Role

We are working with an award-winning manufacturer that is looking for a Toolroom Assistant to join its engineering team.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with a mechanical or engineering background who wants to develop their skills within a busy toolroom environment.

The Toolroom Assistant will support the experienced engineers with the maintenance, refurbishment and preparation of tooling, machinery and components. The role will involve a mixture of practical engineering work, workshop duties and supporting ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of tooling and machinery.

• Support Toolroom Engineers with day-to-day engineering and workshop activities.

• Strip, clean, inspect and rebuild components.

• Assist with the manufacture, modification and repair of mechanical components.

• Prepare tools, equipment and components for engineering work.

• Use basic workshop machinery and hand tools.

• Carry out measuring and inspection of components.

• Use equipment such as verniers and micrometers when required.

• Assist with engineering projects and machinery improvements.

• Keep the toolroom organised, clean and safe.

• Follow engineering drawings, instructions and specifications.

• Work to high standards of accuracy and quality.

The Person

This Toolroom Assistant role would suit someone who has a mechanical, engineering or manufacturing background and enjoys practical, hands-on work.

You do not necessarily need extensive toolroom experience, but you should have good mechanical aptitude, be comfortable using hand tools and workshop equipment, and have an interest in developing your engineering skills.

Experience within a toolroom, workshop, manufacturing or maintenance environment would be beneficial.

Skills & Experience

• Mechanical or engineering experience.

• Good practical and hands-on skills.

• Comfortable using hand tools and workshop equipment.

• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

• Able to measure components accurately using verniers or similar equipment.

• Experience reading engineering drawings would be advantageous.

• Toolroom, maintenance, machining or manufacturing experience would be beneficial.

• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

• Able to work safely and accurately as part of an engineering team.
