Control Room Specialist

Location: Duiven, Netherlands (with occasional support in Elst, on demand)
Type of employment: Full time
Working pattern: On-site, rotating 3-shift schedule (day, afternoon & night), Monday-Saturday

We are seeking an experienced Control Room Specialist with a strong background in automation, maintenance, and SCADA systems to support a highly automated logistics hub.

The successful candidate will provide technical and operational support during sorting operations, monitor automation systems, coordinate on-site maintenance teams, and ensure the safe and effective performance of conveyor and material handling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage conveyor and material handling equipment through SCADA systems during live sorting operations
  • Actively respond to system alarms, signals, and operational issues, coordinating Field Service Engineers and Technicians to troubleshoot and resolve incidents
  • Provide local and remote troubleshooting support across automation, electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical systems
  • Support the maintenance and operation of automated material handling systems, including conveyors, bearings, shafts, rollers, and other mechanical components
  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of sorting systems during operational shifts
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to Regular and Senior Technicians on-site
  • Assess technical work and provide guidance on both maintenance execution and administrative close-out
  • Support planning and engineering activities related to material handling and facility systems
  • Manage and coordinate small technical projects and local vendors when required
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, spare parts usage, LOTO procedures, toolbox meetings, and other technical activities
  • Use and maintain IBM Maximo CMMS for maintenance reporting and administrative processes
  • Support inventory and spare parts management
  • Identify system anomalies and implement appropriate corrective actions in line with established procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, operational, and technical standards
  • Mentor and support maintenance personnel, promoting effective teamwork and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, automation, controls, or SCADA
  • Technical background in electrical, electronic, electromechanical, or mechanical engineering
  • Previous experience in a similar technical support, control room, maintenance, or automation role
  • Experience working with SCADA systems and automated material handling equipment
  • Experience supporting conveyor systems and intralogistics / automated sorting environments
  • Previous experience with technical leadership, mentoring, or coordinating maintenance teams
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems, preferably IBM Maximo
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, electromechanical, automation, and mechanical equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Service-oriented and hands-on approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both written and spoken
  • Technical qualification (MBO or equivalent) in electrical, electronic, electromechanical, automation, or a related discipline
