Facilities Maintenance Manager
The opportunity
We're partnering with a leading global logistics organisation to find a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Manager for one of its high-volume European hub sites. You'll lead the maintenance team for the site's buildings, infrastructure and automated sortation equipment, keeping a fast-moving operation running safely and reliably. You'll report to senior engineering management.
This role suits an experienced engineering leader who is equally at home on the shop floor and in the planning meeting.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the team: recruit, develop, coach and manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians and contractors, including performance management.
- Maintenance strategy: deliver preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance across facilities, conveyors, sortation systems and site services.
- Facilities management: maintain and develop the site's buildings and infrastructure so they keep pace with operational growth.
- Health and safety: put safety standards into practice, deliver training, keep accurate records and support audits.
- Planning and resourcing: plan and schedule resources and rosters, set team goals and assess short- and medium-term staffing needs.
- Projects: oversee engineering projects and technical improvements so they're delivered on time and on budget.
- Budget and vendors: manage the department budget, find and manage suppliers and contractors, and keep costs under control.
- Continuous improvement: improve processes and procedures, investigate issues and put corrective actions in place.
- Reporting: produce clear, timely reports and presentations for senior management.
- Stakeholders: work closely with operations leaders, senior management and directors across the business.
What you'll bring
- 3 to 5 years practical engineering experience at managerial level
- Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
- Hands-on experience with automated equipment such as material handling machinery, sortation and conveyor systems
- Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills
- Sound judgement and decision-making in a fast-paced operational environment
- Experience in project and vendor management
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
Why apply?
This is a chance to take ownership of a critical site within a world-class logistics network. You'll have real influence over how the site is maintained and developed, alongside clear routes for professional growth.
