We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer specializing in Cell Assembly processes to join our client, an established Battery company in Italy. In this role, you will be responsible for lithium-ion cell assembly process optimization including stacking/winding, welding, electrolyte filling, sealing, and inspection processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize battery cell assembly processes
  • Manage process parameters for: Stacking process, Tab welding, Electrolyte filling, Sealing process
  • Analyze process variation and improve process capability (Cp, Cpk)
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve yield
  • Analyze process data and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Support process validation, qualification, and scale-up activities
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and manufacturing standards
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA and process documentation
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production and quality targets
  • Define and maintain process specifications and control plans
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Lead equipment commissioning and qualification
  • Work with Quality, Production and R&D teams
  • Manage data analysis for process correlation

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience in lithium-ion battery electrode manufacturing
  • Experience with process improvement tools: SPC, DOE, FMEA* Bachelor's or master's degree in:Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Materials Science/Battery-related fields
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Experience in lithium-ion battery mass production environment
  • Knowledge of: PFMEA, 6 Sigma, SPC, 8D problem solving, Lean Manufacturing
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Experience in battery Gigafactory ramp-up (preferred)
  • Experience with battery manufacturing projects (preferred)
  • Auto cad, 3D modeling (preferred)
