Design Engineering Manager required to work for a specialist engineering organisation based near Hook. We are looking for a true leader, someone who can demonstrate solid management background with a history of leading teams, developing staff and driving a department forward within a business. This is not just a design based role, this is firmly and engineering based role where you will be key to supporting the directors of engineering in the business plans and goals to improve and develop.
You will come from an engineering background focussing on the design of niche world class equipment. This role is key to the business as it will align with implementation of an engineering strategy that will include future product development, an agreed implementation plan for updates of existing products and work with internal stakeholders across the business.
We are looking for someone who can not only drive the development of new products but also the enhancement and timely delivery of updated on the existing product range, work with customers to develop client specific requirements and adaptations of the current equipment.
- Be the First point of contact with Engineering to support the day-to-day operational needs of the business providing engineering (mechanical and technology) support to both customers and internal stakeholders.
- Management of the mechanical and electrical sub team within the engineering group ensuring planned work is delivered on time and to agreed objective.
- Manage the engineering support function ensuring that the necessary time and resources is provided to meet the business need.
- Manage the change control process within engineering acting as gatekeeper for approval of ECR's and coordinating delivery dates of the engineering elements of the process.
- Lead the management of Non-Conformance reports in Engineering ensuring that no delays occur to the operational management and identifying Root Cause to improve the existing product, process, and procedures with Engineering.
- In collaboration with the Director of Engineering ensure that robust process and procedures are maintained and followed across the Engineering Group
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to provide the GDS standardised product range that meets the regulatory standards required across the world.
- Collaborate with the Product Specialist supporting the implementation of future product development and updates of existing products.
- Provide monthly KPI's and reports as appropriate to the operational and wider group as agreed with the Director of Engineering
Educational/ Technical requirements
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
- Demonstrable experience of managing an engineering function delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes, and systems
- Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Technical mind-set
- Change agent who can challenge and drive process improvements.
