Junior Mechatronic Technician
About the Opportunity
Our client is an innovative engineering and technology business developing advanced automated systems that are transforming industrial processes through cutting-edge robotics, AI and machine vision technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior or Trainee Technician to join a rapidly expanding engineering business. You will support the assembly, testing and installation of sophisticated electro-mechanical equipment, working closely with experienced Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers.
The role would suit someone with a practical and hands-on approach who is looking to develop their technical skills and build a career within an engineering and manufacturing environment. Full training and support will be provided, with the opportunity to gain experience across electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the electrical assembly, wiring and functional testing of products in the workshop and, following training, at customer sites.
- Assist with the assembly, testing and installation of electro-mechanical systems to engineering specifications.
- Build, inspect and test mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Follow assembly instructions, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Learn to route and terminate electrical wiring, cabling, pneumatic tubing and conduit.
- Use a range of workshop equipment, hand tools and power tools safely and appropriately.
- Assist with identifying and resolving basic assembly, wiring and mechanical issues, escalating more complex faults to experienced Engineers or Technicians.
- Provide feedback to the Engineering and Production teams to help improve products and manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Develop knowledge and practical skills across the full product build and installation process.
Skills & Experience
- Some practical, technical or engineering experience is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- A basic understanding of electrical or mechanical principles would be advantageous.
- Interest in engineering, robotics, automation, manufacturing or electro-mechanical systems.
- Comfortable using, or keen to learn how to use, hand tools and basic workshop equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work carefully to engineering and quality standards.
- Basic ability to read technical drawings, diagrams or instructions, or a willingness to learn.
- A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
- Reliable, motivated and willing to develop new technical skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A relevant technical qualification, apprenticeship, college course or practical experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
- Flexible approach to work, with willingness to support occasional weekend work where required (time off in lieu provided).

Additional Requirements
- Able to travel occasionally throughout the UK and Europe to support customer installations and commissioning.
- Must live within a commutable distance of East London, as this is a fully site-based position (5 days per week).
