About the Opportunity

We're seeking a Field Service & Site Execution Manager to lead field execution and on-site electrical and controls installation for industrial automation and material handling projects. This is a unique player-coach role that combines technical leadership with hands-on field support, overseeing installation teams, subcontractors, commissioning activities, and customer interactions to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Do

Site Execution Leadership

  • Lead on-site electrical and controls installation activities for automation and material handling projects.
  • Coordinate daily work between internal teams, subcontractors, customers, and other trades.
  • Drive installation planning, execution, and issue resolution to keep projects on schedule.
  • Ensure all work complies with project drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.

Field Team & Subcontractor Leadership

  • Lead and support field service technicians throughout installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Direct third-party electrical contractors and installation partners to ensure quality, safety, and schedule expectations are met.
  • Coach and mentor field personnel while establishing consistent work practices and documentation standards.
  • Monitor field productivity and proactively address performance or resource challenges.

Technical Field Support

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership during critical project phases.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems in PLC-based automation environments.
  • Perform panel inspections, quality audits, I/O verification, and system validation.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Assist with complex technical issues and customer escalations.

Quality, Commissioning & Project Closeout

  • Maintain field quality standards and ensure accurate documentation throughout project execution.
  • Review redlines, as-built drawings, and quality records.
  • Lead installation verification, system readiness reviews, and punch list completion.
  • Support successful project turnover and customer handoff.

Customer & Site Coordination

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, general contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and recovery plans clearly and professionally.
  • Participate in site coordination meetings and foster strong customer relationships.

Safety & Planning

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and customer safety requirements.
  • Support project planning activities, labor coordination, and site readiness before mobilization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve installation efficiency and reduce rework through proactive field feedback.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in industrial automation, electrical installation, controls, commissioning, field service, or related industrial environments.
  • 3+ years of experience leading field teams, subcontractors, or site execution activities.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret:
    • Electrical schematics
    • Control panel drawings
    • Device layouts
    • Industrial network drawings
    • Installation packages
  • Hands-on experience with PLC-based industrial automation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve technical issues under demanding project schedules.
  • Experience managing subcontractors while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, documentation, and schedule performance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with customers, field personnel, and internal teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 60-80% based on project requirements.
